My name is Maddie, and I began my career in college as an editor and writer. After graduating with an editing and publishing degree, I gravitated to User Experience Design because I liked the human-centered focus on the user and increased accessibility awareness.
I've always loved writing, and I currently write a weekly newsletter on dark history, horror, and all things spooky. While I love writing in my personal life, I lean more towards the visual design aspects of UX that let me explore typography and color to make a design more appealing and approachable for users. Helping other people, especially by making designs accessible, is very important to me.
I love all things creepy and kooky, Harry Styles, and vintage. I'm a regular concert-goer, and I love to visit new cities. Every time I travel to a new place, I go to a museum and try to get to know the people and places I'm surrounded by. One day, I would like to live and work abroad to experience life from a different perspective than I'm used to.
Recently, I've been teaching myself American Sign Language, and I hope to one day be certified as an interpreter so that I can help those who are hard of hearing or deaf communicate with others and be heard. Because I have a strong personal and professional interest in working with those with disabilities, I naturally leaned more towards UX, so I could help make life easier for those who aren't always considered by others.
